Kickstarter review: Demigods Rising

Though I don’t have the time to get into the Moba-gaming world, I do like the idea of teams of heroes ganging up on each other to control a couple of lanes. That’s why I am happy to see the Moba concept being transported to the tabletop, just like in Demigods Rising by Nikola Andrejic and Milos Pavlovic, now on Kickstarter.

Demigods Rising boardIn Demigods Rising both players control a team of heroes led by a Demigod. Évery hero has their own abilities and strong points, same as the Demigods. But the Demigods are also upgradable with items and weapons. The objective of the game is kill the other Demigods before your own is destroyed. Unlike most Moba’s, Demigods is not played on lanes, but on a sort of chessboard, making placement and maneuvering of your heroes a decisive part of your strategy. You can download the full rules here!

Demigods Rising The game is played with a selection of very nice miniatures. The Demigods are all very different with different sets of skills and gameplay. Like the Protector, who is quite defensive or the Warlord, who is all about the attack.

The heroes are all subdiivided in 4 races, Human, Elf, Dwarf and Orc, but you can choose any hero in any combination how you want. So yes, Orcs and Dwarfs can Demigods Rising miniaturesfight together. And in this comes one of the aestetic strong points for this game. There are so many different miniatures, there is bound to be a couple you really love. Fo me there are mniatures in all the 5 categories which I dislike, but there are also miniatures which I absolutely love! Like Black Wolf, Fairy, Wind, Engineer and Protector.

So if you are looking for a great game, with lots of nice miniatures and short, but exciting gameplay, a game lasts between 30-90 minutes (which I find quick for a miniature game) and thousands of hero and Demigod customization options, than head over the the Demigods Rising Kickstarter and back this project before it’s to late!
